Q. Is it true that California forests are in better shape than they were 100 years ago? What steps are the forest companies taking to protect resources for future generations? Is it necessary to manage a forest?

These and other questions are examined in "A Walk in the Woods," a multi-media exhibit designed to raise public awareness regarding forest management. The exhibit explores the evolution of California forests and discusses forest health, wildlife habitat, botany, forest management and issues affecting our forests.

Visitors are transported to a forest environment complete with wildlife images, birds and animals calls, babbling brooks, and the sound of wind and rain. During the journey, one can peek inside a life-like tree stump and learn how to identify tree species. Interactivity allows participants to map out a timber harvest plan based on statewide regulations.
