California Forest Center 2015 Events

A 1-acre urban forest dedicated to educating Californians about the benefits of sustainable forests.  Learn how forests provide wildlife habitats, clean air, clean water and renewable resources, and how we can help reduce the risk of wildfire.  Walk our nature path to learn about trees and wildlife.  Make a craft out of wood and take the Healthy Forest Challenge to receive your free tree seedling.

 

Schedule of Events

Healthy Forest Challenge – Everyday
Visit The Forest Center during operating hours and test your knowledge about healthy forests.  Take a walk around our nature trail and visit the games and displays in the gazebo to fill out the Healthy Forest Challenge for a free tree seedling.  Take some time to relax in our shaded, one-acre urban forest and learn about California’s renewable and sustainable forest resources.

Kids’ Craft!  Make a Pine Cone Owl – Saturdays 7/11, 7/18, 7/25
Come over to The Forest Center and make your very own pine cone owl craft.  Learn why pine cones are important to all trees.

Kids’ Craft!  Decorate a Bird House – Sundays 7/12, 7/19, 7/26
Head over to The Forest Center to decorate your very own bird house.  Learn where wood products come from and about some of the native birds that you see in your backyard, parks and forests.

Kids’ Craft!  Make a Tree Cookie Nametag – Tuesdays 7/14 and 7/21
Come over to The Forest Center to make you own tree cookie nametag.  Tree cookie and decorating supplies are provided.  Learn how trees grow and the importance of forest management in sustaining healthy forests while having some creative fun.

Chainsaw Carving – Every Saturday and Sunday
Watch professional chainsaw carver NAME as he skilfully carves WHAT right before your eyes.  Watch him turn trees into art.

Wildlife Exhibit – Everyday
Walk our nature path to learn about various trees and animals native to California forests.  You will see rescued animals and learn about their story. Join us and grow your appreciation of wildlife and their forest habitats.
